Persian Gabbeh rugs celebrate the drama of contrast, the intricate and the simple, the raw and the refined, and the organic and the linear compositions. It took centuries of carefully breeding sheep to create wool that is fine enough and luxurious enough, yet at the same time, strong and impervious enough to be used for Persian Gabbeh rugs.
When the Gabbeh yarns are dipped into pure, natural earthly pigments they become saturated with a palette of colors so varied the came exact hue is never seen twice. The nomadic Shepards begin weaving one knot at a time, building shapes and color, interpreting the landscape surrounding them and borrowing motifs inherited from all weavers that came before them.
